German M-40 with 3-Stripe Sand Camouflage

The exterior of the helmet has three yellow/golden stripes used for camouflage. The first one goes from the front left part of the bill, sweeps in front of the left top rivet, comes across the top of the helmet, and extends straight down the side of the helmet over the vent hole. The second stripe starts at the bottom left of the bill, towards the middle, and rises up over the top, sweeps across the top back of the helmet and comes straight down on the other side towards the back. The third strip starts about four inches left of the rivet in the back of the helmet, extends up past the rivet, and comes down over the top of it to reach the almost-exact middle of the back of the helmet. There are three rivets and two vent holes, one on each side. The interior has an eight-fingered leather liner with six holes in each, one of which is at the tip. The suspension system includes a steel ring around the edges of the helmet. The liner has the word “Krabo” or “Kvabo” written on the back inside of the liner near the rear seam. The chinstrap is missing except for one button segment of the strap (around the right d-bale). The back inside of the helmet has the written "STGEERNZEL." The numbers stamped in the middle are the following: NSG2 (inside left – helmet), D105 (inside rear – under the words ST GEERNZEL), and B.O. 56 (inside –underside of the liner). There is a remnant of an old Nazi eagle decal, pinning this helmet to the Heer (army).
